The Bruin Investment and Trading Group (BIT Group) prepares students to excel in Investment Banking recruiting. When new members are admitted, they undergo a full quarter of rigorous training. The training covers accounting, Excel, valuation methodologies, and lays the foundation to master technical skills for interviews. The training culminates in a thorough individual stock pitch for a company of choice.
Students are also taught the soft skills needed to win job offers. The BIT Group hosts networking seminars, workshops for behavioral questions, and provides resume tips and templates. Members who landed offers at top firms use their experiences to help students navigate their individual processes. Students are encouraged to reach out for any and all questions.
Weekly meetings serve as a check-in for members – keeping them updated on current events and market news, sharing the latest internship opportunities, and staying up to date with the recruiting timelines of firms.
The BIT Group prides itself most on its culture. With no business school and high barriers to entry in banking, members understand how valuable our platform is. Every club member is willing to go out of their way to help another member. At the end of the day, Investment Banking is a people business, and it is the people of the BIT Group that set it apart from the other finance clubs at UCLA.
With no business school and little on-campus recruiting, breaking into an Investment Banking role from UCLA is a difficult task without proper guidance from a finance club. The Bruin Investment and Trading Group hosts two recruiting cycles per year – at the start of each Fall and Winter quarter. BIT Group’s mission is to ensure that everybody who wants an offer can get one, and all students with an interest in Investment Banking are encouraged to apply. Please find the specifics below.

What the BIT Looks For
The BIT Group constantly seeks to expand its team through the addition of hardworking, passionate individuals with a strong academic track record and an intent to recruit at top-tier Investment Banking firms. Successful applicants will be able to provide a coherent and chronological resume walk-through detailing their interest in Investment Banking and BIT. Furthermore, strong candidates will have a robust understanding of basic Investment Banking technical concepts – such as valuation methodologies and financial accounting. The BIT Group also expects applicants to succinctly answer behavioral questions to learn more about each candidate and their background. It is important to note that Investment Banking recruiting typically occurs during the spring of sophomore year, and although anyone is encouraged to apply, priority will be given to underclassmen applicants.
